Leena Lehtolainen’s Maria Kallio crime series conquers Brazil!

Finland’s most popular female crime author Leena Lehtolainen continues to reach new readers internationally with her iconic Maria Kallio detective series that stars a tough, down-to-earth and emotionally intelligent police officer. In May 2014, Lehtolainen’s Brazilian publisher Autentica published the fourth Maria Kallio novel, Snow Woman (Luminainen, Tammi 1996) with a translation by Ana Carolina Oliveira.

The launch has received an enthusiastic response among the Brazilian literary blogger community, with several bloggers mentioning Snow Woman on their new release lists. In August 2013 Autentica published My First Murder (Ensimmäinen murhani, Tammi 1993), Book I in the Maria Kallio series.

The 12th and most recent Maria Kallio entry, The Iron Triangle (Rautakolmio, Tammi 2013) will be published in Germany by Rowohlt on August 29th. Lehtolainen has sold more than two million books in 29 languages.

Leena Lehtolainen is the top female crime author in Finland: her new titles always head straight to #1 on the Finnish bestseller lists.

Lehtolainen created her successful protagonist, detective Maria Kallio, in 1993. Having already featured in 16 novels and a complete TV series, a new Maria Kallio TV reboot series was launched in Fall 2021 on C More.
