US and UK rights sold for New York Times Bestselling author Max Seeck’s novels #3 and #4 in the Jessica Niemi series!

We are glad to announce new deals for New York Times and international bestselling author Max Seeck’s third and fourth novels featuring Jessica Niemi, a Finnish police detective who is haunted by the occult forces that have shaped her dark past. The UK and US rights are sold to Michelle Vega at Berkley and Jon Elek at Welbeck for publication in Fall 2022 (Book 3). The deal was negotiated by Rhea Lyons at HG Literary on behalf of Elina Ahlback of Elina Ahlback Literary Agency. Rights have been previously sold to Bastei Luebbe in Germany (Book3) and to Aschehoug in Norway (Book 3 & 4) and to Pegasus in Estonia (Book 3).  In Finland, Tammi will publish Book 3 “Kauna” (Bad Blood) in August 2021.

Max Seeck’s US publisher Michelle Vega at Berkley is excited:

“Everyone at Berkley, an imprint of Penguin Random House, is incredibly excited to publish two more fantastic thrillers by New York Times and international bestselling author of THE WITCH HUNTER Max Seeck featuring Finnish police Detective Jessica Niemi. Max gives the term ‘unputdownable’ all new meaning with his razor sharp writing, unforgettable characters, and edge-of your-seat plot twists. Berkley is honored to be his US publisher and I am absolutely overjoyed to be his editor.” – Michelle Vega, Executive Editor, Berkley.

THE WITCH HUNTER, Book 1 in Jessica Niemi series, is topping the bestseller lists now in Denmark and Sweden and is a New York Times and Spiegel Bestseller. Rights have been sold in 40 countries and TV show is in development in Hollywood by Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman.

Praise:
“The Witch Hunter, translated with icy precision by Kristian London, is written in short, sharp, present tense chapters, a technique which adds to its relentless tension. Flashbacks to earlier episodes in Jessica’s life suggest that the strangeness currently unfolding is tied to her personal history. Discovering the how and why of it brings a resolution as bleak as anything Poe might have conjured.” – Wall Street Journal
