Hachette Black Moon buys French rights to Salla Simukka’s Snow White Trilogy!

We are happy to announce that the French rights of Salla Simukka’s YA thrillers, Snow White Trilogy have been sold to Hachette Livre / Black Moon for publication in 2014-2015.

Rights were previously sold in Croatia to Znanje and offers are expected in all major territories after Bologna.

Lumikki Andersson, the main character in Snow White Trilogy, is a 17-year-old girl, who has learned to defend herself and to trust no one. She is a lonely wolf and a lonesome survivor. Like Lisbeth Salander for the YA! Lumikki was bullied at school, but has now moved to study in a bigger city and lives by herself. She is witty, sarcastic, a bit tough and enjoys solitude. She has decided that she doesn’t want to be afraid anymore in her life and doesn’t want to get involved with things that are none of her business. Her hobbies are bodycombat, ice swimming, running and going to art galleries.

Book 1 As Red as Blood (Punainen kuin veri) was just published in Finland by Tammi. The Trilogy kicks off as Lumikki stumbles upon a money laundering operation in her school’s darkroom and is swept into a whirlpool of unpredictable events.
In Book 2 As White as Snow
(Valkea kuin lumi)  Lumikki goes backpacking and joins a religious cult in Prague. When it turns out that the cult leaders are planning a mass suicide, Lumikki has to run for her life.
In Book 3 As Black as Ebony
(Musta kuin eebenpuu) she has to find a way to outwit her stalker before her premiere in the modern-day version of Snow White. Books 2 and 3 will be published in Finland by Tammi in Fall 2013 and Spring 2014. Read more about the Snow White Trilogy on Salla Simukka’s blog: Snow White Trilogy – WordPress and our website.

In January 2013 Salla Simukka was awarded with the Topelius Prize for her YA novels Without a Trace (Jäljellä, Tammi Spring 2012) and Elsewhere (Toisaalla, Tammi Fall 2012). Established in 1946, the Topelius Prize is Finland’s oldest prize in recognition of the best Finnish book for children and young people.
