A delicious blend of fairy fantasy and detective fiction!

In the second major case of The Fader Files mystery series, Viona and Ely are back solving another intricate case. Expect sharp banter, competing theories, and, of course, a deliciously tangled crime plot as the duo navigates a fantastical city.

Viona and Ely had hoped for a more glamorous start to their detective agency than searching for missing kittens. But when Viona’s inventor friend Mr. Hastfeld is accused of producing “dust”, a dangerous drug, the pair finds themselves in the middle of a complex web involving smuggling vampires from the Court of Night, the origins of the dust, and even the church.

Viona is further troubled by her mother’s attempts to arrange her marriage. Ely, too, is less than thrilled by potential suitors, especially not by how much his older brother Cory seems to enjoy Viona’s company.

About author

Mari Renko

Mari Renko (b. 1994) is an Eastern Finnish author from Kuopio. She writes both the two-timeline romantic book series The Yellow House Chronicles aimed at adults, as well as The Fader Files, which combines YA fantasy and detective adventures. She wrote her debut novel Pearl Ring, Enclosed after growing tired of the one-dimensional male heroes in romantic books. Her goal is to show that the world is full of different love stories, each worth telling, even if they don’t end in marriage and children, or even if the love in question is something other than romantic love.

In fantasy, Mari is fascinated by other worlds where one can escape everyday life, and by gripping adventures into which important themes can be woven, without forgetting romance.

Mari has studied medicine and writing. She is also active on book-related social media, where she talks about her writing and shares writing tips.
