Finnish edition

A captivating two-timeline novel contrasting the fast-paced life of a modern social media influencer from New York with the quiet, traditional rhythms of a small town in North Karelia, Finland, woven together by a mysterious pearl ring connected to the Titanic

Two women, two choices, and a secret from a century ago. A fresh new Finnish romance series for fans of Lucinda Riley.

Mari Renko’s Pearl Ring, Enclosed is a delightful and charming novel that takes place in two different times, where the sparkling world of social media and boring everyday life come crashing together as a woman from New York sets out to trace the fascinating story of a ring that has been passed down in her family.

On the shore of Lake Pielinen in North-Eastern Finland stands a weathered yellow wooden house. The house is home to Henri Ikonen and his younger siblings, of whom he is taking care of. One day, Caroline Taylor steps onto the front yard of the house, wearing luxurious high heels and bringing with her an old letter and a pearl ring that she insists are related to the Ikonen family. Henri is not delighted to see this surprise guest, but this social media influencer and socialite turns Henri’s sawdust-smelling everyday life upside down. At the same time, Caroline’s own glamorous life in New York is in danger of slipping from her hands like an Instagram story.

In another time, in 1912, Anna has just married, left Nurmes behind, and steps onto the deck of the RMS Titanic with a singer’s career in her dreams. When Anna meets a handsome businessman on the ship, melodies of hope start sounding in her unruly heart.

Pearl Ring, Enclosed is an irresistible reading experience that takes the readers from the glittering Atlantic to the shores of rural Lake Pielinen in North Karelia. Each novel in this series focuses on the life and love of one of the Ikonen siblings.

"A dual timeline series with all the classic elements, modern tropes, fresh additions such as diverse and inclusive characters, and a captivating setting in Finland.. What’s not to love! Mari Renko writes seemingly effortlessly and makes me feel that I am present in the story as well, so clear and vivid. I can’t wait to read more."

About author

Mari Renko

Mari Renko (b. 1994) is an Eastern Finnish author from Kuopio. She writes both the two-timeline romantic book series The Yellow House Chronicles aimed at adults, as well as Häiveen tapauskirjat, which combines YA fantasy and detective adventures. She wrote her debut novel Pearl Ring, Enclosed after growing tired of the one-dimensional male heroes in romantic books. Her goal is to show that the world is full of different love stories, each worth telling, even if they don’t end in marriage and children, or even if the love in question is something other than romantic love.

In fantasy, Mari is fascinated by other worlds where one can escape everyday life, and by gripping adventures into which important themes can be woven, without forgetting romance.

Mari has studied medicine and writing. She is also active on book-related social media, where she talks about her writing and shares writing tips.
