We’re thrilled to announce that Förlaget has acquired the Swedish-language rights in both Sweden and Finland to ALONE and LIES, the second and third installments in Kaisu Tuokko’s bestselling crimance series, THE KRISTINESTAD MURDERS. The deal was closed by Martti Berner at Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.
This deal follows the successful release of the first book, Revenge (Hämnden i Kristinestad), which was published by Förlaget in March to great reviews and enthusiastic reader response.
“Tuokko’s series belongs alongside Nilla Kjellsdotter and Karin Erlandsson.”
– Vasabladet, Villhelmina Öhman“Something in the storytelling style lifts this one above many others. [–] The story flows in harmony – more a steady stream of firecrackers than deafening fireworks.”
– Österbottens Tidning, Yvonne Granqvist
With over 50,000 copies sold in Finland, Tuokko’s emotionally rich and suspenseful series is one to look out for! Set in the atmospheric Finnish coastal town of Kristinestad, the novels combine gripping murder cases with a deep emotional arc. This blend of crime and romance has drawn readers to the series not only for its investigative suspense, but for the heart at its core.
With rights sold in Germany and Sweden, and the German edition of book 1, Gerächt sein sollst du, publishing this July, now is the perfect time to get on board. Draft English translations of books 1–3 are available.
Translation rights are currently available in the UK/US, the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, and France.
