Apply for FILI translation grants by May 1st!

FILIgrantsnewsletterApr222015Amidst the bustle of spring, we would like to remind our international publishing partners that the second spring application round for FILI’s translation grants comes to a close on May 1st.

International publishers can apply for grants to cover the translation costs of books originally published in Finnish or Swedish in Finland. See the FILI web site for more information and an application form.

Among our titles drawing major international attention are Tuutikki Tolonen’s delightful middle-grade novel Monster Nanny (Tammi fall 2015), Maria Turtschaninoff’s Finlandia Junior Prize winner Maresi (Tammi 2014), Emmi Itäranta’s internationally acclaimed speculative fiction debut Memory of Water (Teos 2012) and Jussi Valtonen’s Finlandia Prize winner They Know Not What They Do (Tammi 2014). Contact the Agency for reading materials!

Each year FILI, the Finnish Literature Exchange, awards about 600,000 euros in translation and printing grants to hundreds of projects.

For more information on each of our authors and illustrators, see our Spring 2015 Children’s, YA and Fiction catalogs.
