We are happy to announce that the Villa Hilda series by Michaela von Kügelgen is now traveling to Bulgaria! Emas has acquired rights to the full trilogy. The deal was closed by Satu Sallantaus at Ahlbäck Agency in collaboration with our wonderful co-agent Antonija Radic at Corto Literary.
This marks the 9th language for the Villa Hilda books! The Estonian translation was published last year, and the Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, and German editions were published earlier this summer. The Hungarian edition will be out this month.

Far out in the Stockholm archipelago lies the island of Halsterö. Journalist Thomas and former celebrity chef Louise travel there to work at the Villa Hilda guesthouse. They are both broken after many setbacks and are hoping for a fresh start. But setting up a summer paradise is not as easy as one might think, not even on the idyllic Halsterö island.
Summer at Villa Hilda is about how difficult it is to be human among other people, but also about how, with the help of others, one can find one’s way back to life.
When Sanne’s dream job in Oslo is derailed by her mother’s illness, she returns to the idyllic yet shadowed archipelago of Halsterö—where secrets, loss, and unexpected love await. Amid organic farms, fractured families, and the pull of the past, will Sanne finally discover where she belongs?
