SAVING ATLANTIS by Siri Kolu nominated for Finlandia Prize 2025!

We are thrilled to announce that SAVING ATLANTIS by Siri Kolu has been nominated for the Finlandia Prize 2025 in Children’s and Youth Literature!

Siri Kolu was recently also nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Saving Atlantis is the first part in the TWIN WORLD SERIES, which will be continuing next year.

Finlandia Prize is the most prestigious literary award in Finland, worth 30,000 euros. The award is given by the Finnish Book Foundation, awarded annually in three categories. The winner will be announced on November 27th.

This is what the Finlandia Prize jury had to say about Saving Atlantis:

This light-footed young adult novel seamlessly blends the everyday greyness of Helsinki with the sunlit, oceanic shimmer of Atlantis. Growing pains and the complexities of social relationships prove timeless and universal, but the story centers on the agency of early adolescents and their inventive teamwork, even through dreams. In homage to the traditions of Jules Verne, the reader is presented with a widescreen vision of an entirely new world.

Can Atlantis be saved before disaster strikes?

12-year-old El(ektra) starts sleepwalking and has recurring nightmares of masses of water under which there is no escape. After doing research with her friends Maxxam and Cal, El discovers that the underwater city in her nightmares is ancient Atlantis.

In the city of Atlantis, young Elektra has strange dreams at night about tall glass towers and flying planes. With inventor genius Dobro, Elektra begins to test whether the visions could be real. Based on the dreams, they build a submarine called a wave diver.

Can the Elektras help each other? Can they be rescued from under the waves…and what would it cost?
