“The personal experience of the author grows into a universal reach,  and she finds something globally applicable about humans, hate, anger, lies, hope, dreams and their crumbling, death.

The world is not only what one can see. This brings forth a masterpiece, which is worth living for.”

Hyena Days

Saara Turunen

Is it possible to have a child and retain one’s own identity?

“Days of the Hyena is full-blooded fiction that touches the reader on a private level. It is also a socially significant work, which deals with issues related to the female body, infertility and fertility treatments with crystal clear accuracy. It would be a crying injustice if Turunen’s work is not nominated for this year’s Finlandia Prize. Why not even as the winner.”
