We are excited to tell you that Piper have acquired the German rights to BEFORE THE POLAR NIGHT FALLS by Elina Backman. Piper had previously already acquired the rights for the first two books in the Saana Havas crime series, and have now decided to buy the 3rd book as well – before the German edition of book 2 hits the market (scheduled for summer 2023)! The deal was closed by Anna Kappauf at Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.
The Saana Havas series is a success in Finland and internationally, with rights sold in 17 territories and 90,000 copies sold in Finland, making her Finland’s no. 4 bestselling fiction author! An international TV-series is in development by Aurora Studios! Her books have been nominated twice for the Best Translated Crime Novel by the Swedish Crime Writers’ Academy, and for the Best Crime Novel of the Year 2022 by the Finnish Crime Writers’ Society.
The eagerly awaited fourth book in the series will be published in Finland in spring 2024.
