DAD MAN series two book sale to Poland!

We are so happy to announce that the first two books of the DAD MAN series by Arttu Unkari and Kai Vaalio have been sold to Poland! Dad Man and the Explosive Poop and Dad Man and the Evil Little Brother have been acquired by Kropka, an imprint of publishing house Marginesy. Marginesy is the Polish part of Bonnier Group. The deal was closed by Satu Sallantaus at Elina Ahlback Literary Agency.

Here’s what Karolina Wojciechowska, translator for Kropka publishing house had to say about the series:

“The first part of “Dad-Man” is dynamic and absurd from first to last page. The book is rich in wordplays, sharp dialogues, and witty illustrations. As you might expect from the title, toilet humor dominates, but young readers may enjoy it, especially since Unkari masterfully balances uninhibited freedom with scurrility.

One of the most interesting elements is the grumpy grandmother, who periodically makes negative comments that transcend the narrative and interrupt the action. The grandmother complains about the poor author, unattractive language, the inappropriate topic, and the characters’ bad behavior. This creates a contrast between the grandmother’s “stiff” approach to literature and parenting and the authors’ “rebellious” vision.”

The Dad Man series is a 6 book series and has sold over 200,000 copies in Finland! This sale follows the recent deal to Germany, where Mixtvision acquired the rights to the third title in the series. The series is fast-paced, visually bold, and hilarious – perfect for readers 7+!

The rights for the series are still available in Estonia, Sweden, Turkey, France, Czechia…
