Katri Lipson’s The Ice Cream Man sold in Serbia and Macedonia!

LipsonAug2015We are proud to announce that Bata Press in Macedonia and Kontrast Izdavaštvo in Serbia have acquired rights to Katri Lipson’s The Ice Cream Man (Tammi 2012), winner of the 2013 EU Prize for Literature. Rights to the novel have now sold in 11 territories!

Set in the Czech Republic and Sweden, The Ice Cream Man explores themes of guilt, humanity and the fuzzy lines between fact and fiction in a narrative spanning several generations. Lipson has been internationally praised for both her versatility with voice and her mastery of narrative structure.

“The stories contained within The Ice Cream Man lead the reader from the past back to the present. The novel is complex enough to hold the reader’s attention to the end. This is a true masterpiece of European literature.”
– Filip Batkoski, editor, Bata Press, Macedonia

“Ms. Lipson’s novel is a shining example of our shared European literary heritage; as a Finnish author she writes vividly about Czech life and experiences in the 1940s. We are very excited about this novel.”
– Vladimir Manigoda, editor, Kontrast Izdavaštvo, Serbia

Lipson’s upcoming novel Detroit (Tammi 2016) is an examination of shattered dreams and the nature of truth set in the National Hockey League.
