Awards and nominations for our authors and illustrators
Author-illustrator Liisa Kallio has received the Kylli Koski Award for her book Teeny Beany (Pikku Papu), published in the Acorn (Tammenterho) series. This was the third and last time the Award was granted by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Read more on Liisa’s works here and ask for reading copies.
Best-selling crime author Leena Lehtolainen is making history as her latest book Where Have All the Young Girls Gone (Minne tytöt kadonneet) is nominated for the Savonia Prize. Esko-Pekka Tiitinen‘s Kiven sylissä is also a runner-up with four other fiction novels published in 2010 competing for the Prize. The jury will reveal the winner on 3 January 2011. Non-fiction author, Master of Wine Essi Avellan is Finland’s representative in the Gourmand Wine Book Awards 2010. Read more on Essi’s wine books here. The winner of the prestigious award will be announced in Paris in March 2011.
