Storm Sisters will be launched by Bastei Lübbe’s digital department, Bastei Entertainment, which has published more than 700 English and German books over the past few years.

Set in the late 1700s but told in a lively, contemporary voice, the Storm Sisters series follows five girls of different ages from various corners of the world who sail the high seas on their own, facing dangerous enemies and protecting themselves with a secret pirate identity called “The Pirettes.” The series opens with The Sinking World (Rovio Books 2014) and continues with The Frozen Seas later this year.

Rights to the series have also sold in France to Éditions Robert Laffont, in Spain to Planeta, in Finland to Tammi, in Hungary to JCS Media and in Indonesia to Gramedia. Earlier this year the series was shortlisted among 10 other works in Books At Berlinale, an event that introduces film producers to new literary works with strong potential for the big screen.

This week Mintie Das is visiting New York City as one of the organizers of Finnish Tech, Design and Art, an expo showcasing Finnish creativity and innovation.
